Unique Career Fair Prep and Career Night for African-American and Minority Students

The next week will be an important week for many of you who are preparing for the transition from UVA to the career world. This year we have worked to provide two unique opportunities for students to negotiate this process. On Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 12 noon, Jasmine Jackson, Career Counselor from the UVA Career Center, for a crash course in Career Fair preparation. Lunch will be served. Her session will help prepare students for the Kuungana Career Fair event that will be held on October 26, 2016 at 6-8 pm at Bryant Hall in the President’s Box.

Kuungana is a program designed to help African-American third and fourth years in the professional setting by providing students with the opportunity to interact with employers from different corporations and companies. The goal of this networking event is to provide a safe space for Black students to explore their career options in a low-pressure high-reward event.

So, join Project RISE, The OAAA Black Leadership Institute, and the UVA Career Center for an evening of networking and career conversations with employers from varying industries. Students will have the opportunity to learn about and build relationships with employers representing a variety of companies from diverse industries. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
